Self-publishing is becoming increasingly trendy these days. Many writers choose to embark on this adventure rather than follow the traditional path. Why is that? And what are the pros and cons? We would be happy to tell you a bit more about that! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Freedom and happiness \ud83d\ude42<\/h2>\n\n

A major advantage of self-publishing<\/a> is the freedom you have. Do you want a bright red cover with a pink doll on it that clashes terribly? That\u2019s perfectly fine! You decide entirely for yourself what your book will look like, how you format the text, and which illustrations to include or omit. No one (unlike publishing through a publishing house<\/a>) tells you what to do! <\/p>\n\n

Furthermore, you decide entirely for yourself how you will present your book to the target audience. Which promotional activities will you use, and how do you want the book to be shown? No rules or people wanting to boss your book around! <\/p>\n\n

Create your own team<\/h2>\n\n

Of course, you do whatever you can yourself. But everyone can use a little help! The moment you decide to self-publish your book, you can decide entirely for yourself who gets to contribute to your success and who you would rather not involve. Much nicer that way! <\/p>\n\n

Profit (cash out!)<\/h2>\n\n

Because you are the boss of your own book and no one else has a say in the matter, you are also the one who receives 100% of the profit! Through a publishing house, very little is often left for the author (often only 10%). However, you should keep in mind that if you want to sell your book through a store or webshop, you will have to pay a percentage. But then again, at least you decide that for yourself! <\/p>\n\n

No months of nail biting<\/h2>\n\n

If you have decided that you want to publish your book the traditional way, the process of contacting publishers begins. The chance that your book will actually be accepted by a publisher is very small (less than 10%). You therefore have to be exceptionally talented to be among these lucky few! You can imagine, then, that this entire process is extremely time-consuming and takes months (or years) to find a publisher. So, if you want to get your \u201cbaby\u201d in your hands quickly, self-publishing is a top option! You decide entirely yourself when to launch your book and how quickly you want to start sales. <\/p>\n\n
